Well it came to light as I witness something interesting on a friend's friend who got into some issue with the dance community and i found it rather interesting and got myself humour by it. Well it all started by the friend, lets call him RJ. He made a comment on that he felt he should have joined the dance competition as he felt he is good enough to take on the guys n gals he seen during the semi-final of R16 dance competition, thus he started to post that he can take on those guys with 1-leg..so apparently it got the community upset as he wasnt part of the community in the first place. And the feel it is not right for him to make those insensitive comments. So some flaming started by the dance community, which I find it super funny.
Well, on one side we have an amateur dancer who just injured his leg (thus 1 leg dancing) and on the other hand, we have a bunch of pros complaining that he had dis-respected them and they started to challenge him to dance. Well the disturbing fact that got my attention was how did a bunch of pros get upset by a comment or a few comments. I mean if you are good, do you really care what other says..? People with really talents and skills dont really care about how others feel about them. So are the pros scared of him...or they simply have no confidence in themselves in what they can do..? Or was it in the culture of the dance community that have this attitude that no one is better them or is their ego hurt by his comments? Everyone is entitled their own comments their own view. So why get upsets by his comments..? Why i dont understand? I mean famous people out there got negative comments all the time...so are they going to challenge every single one out there who give them negative comments..? Actors, actress, footballers, football managers, sports person, djs, music producers, singers they got it all the time...SO what make these pro dancers SO SPECIAL...it is becoz it is the first time someone actually say it to their face or are they having self denial..? It is a freaking kid mentality...come on...someone say something bad to you, something you dont like..then you felt hey I need to get back at this guy...it is SOOOOOOOOOOO CHILDISH....it look like something i will see in a primary school playground...Gosh...if you have been joining competition here and there...working as an dance instructor..Using dance to earn a living, it make you a professional...so HAVE SOME PROFESSIONAL ATTITUDE.... God please save these kids..
And you know something...that guy RJ actually apologize as he didnt mean to offend anyone or discredit or disrespect any people just that his command of english maybe bad...with bad phrasing n bad choices of words, the meaning of his original intention became somewhat misinterpreted n he is sorry about it and he did post an apology but all the PROS say he is not sincere keep wanting to challenge him. SO are they scared of him..? Or is it their pride is hurt. Either way RJ should get his ass whack when the battles is on. Or will we see an fairy tale ending? No matter how I look at this, the Pros is on the losing end...you can win the dance battle, but you will never be the better person as RJ admits his mistake as a MAN, and the PRO dancers just keep whining as a kid. It looks BAD ON THE WHOLE DANCING COMMUNITY...these PRO poppers / lockers...i have no idea what it meant, im just a blogger JUST ruining the name of dancers in singapore. In fact as if im a dancer, I will never want to associate myself with these kids. And can someone give RJ a dictionary. O...by the way...what the PROs are doing to him is online bullying...please take note...
To the PROs...STOP WHINING n start ACTING LIKE ONE n GIVE HIM A BREAK...n to RJ seriously brush up your english ok...

This is something a non dancer will never understand.
Its never about who's more pro etc. Its about standing up and repping ur name. Its street dance we are talking about, its ain't sports and science. You diss someone, you better back It up. That's what's its all about. You think you can win, you better show It. That's what we are trying to show.
Battles are common. Its never about winning or losing. Its part of the street culture that you won't understand. People became friends thru battles, dancers improve thru battles.
For your info, he did apologise for his posts but he still think he could win. Therefore the call out aka challenge was made and its still on.
And by the way, rappers do diss each other in their songs and they do battle too. You could brush up ur knowledge before ranting :)

Well Kai, let me say...rappers i didnt include, if i would the list will go on and on..u get what im trying to drive at..? Well you go into a battle having the losing mentality...means what is the point of battling..? yeah agree it is not about winning or losing...if this guy can do shit..what are you guys gonna to do...? Yes, I get where u are coming from.
Yes, the streets indeed bring different people together but you are wrong in a lot of things. Do you know what really goes down in the streets? Back then, there wasn't any power,glory and honor to fight for. So how did battles come about in the first place? Do you know? No.
And there's definitely a difference. U will never know unless you do It urself. It would be better If you go find out more about our culture before talking about It.
The call out battle is still gonna happen. If he smokes us, we will definitely take It. But since he was the one who started It, he needs to end It. You don't just go diss people, accept the call out battle and then sorry just to run away.
He knows It and he ain't running away. We give him his due respect for that. If he could stand up for what he said instead of just talking behind a computer, we will definitely be cool with It.
That's how we as street dancers are. Gotta learn to stand up for what you said and prove It with ur dance. That's the message we are sending out.

I cant say much about the rest who only use their emotions rule over them judging by the way they post or comment...especially the video...they painted a very negative views on you guys...especially the way you guys commented..I find that you guys r equally egoistic as RJ other then you..dont you find it..? Guess you guys also own him an apology too..I can see all his posting he indeed putting efforts but kept shot down...right...dance..dont know about it...but the dancers i know...not hip hop but like ballet n stuff...comptemp they all love to dance and they told me it is about love, fun, joy...so hope such a good thing dont turn nasty...right..
No one's perfect. We all have ego, gotten angry before and mades mistakes before.

i have just seen this post and i agree with what you guys are saying .
i am stating my stand here because i was the one who replied him on his post , and i know jay . i have seen him personally and have spoken to him before . so based on that , i know what kind of person he is , on first impression . (for clarification , i dont know him very well , we met back in 2010. )

i guessed kai have pretty much explained everything . you kept saying that he apologized and is showing remorse. but this is not the point we are getting here. we dont need people to apologise or anything . all we wanted was to keep it simple : show and prove. nothing wrong with that , isnt it?
i presumed you have learnt about from what kai have explained and this is why the video was made. a call out was made , the person involved accepts it and there you go . show and prove .
if he is better , sure thats okay . if he is not , its also okay .
either way , there is nothing negative about this whole incident . its just me explaining to him why i was upset with his comment and him having to answer to the call out made. simple .
and he called himself a dancer. well if you're a dancer i suppose you should know how call-out works . do the dance, follow the culture. and this is how it works . you have written a long post about how you feel , sure we accept that but learn your history before you start viewing this matter superficially. Yoz...Hi Joey..True in what you say...when I chat with him earlier, he knew that certain things he has done was wrong, so scolding him, being angry with is perfectly alight..well I would too...
But like you have mention...a call out..which i googled it...according to dictionary..it is demanding his presence..well did he agreed to it..YES..So what puzzled me was..it was a simply thing you need him to do right..so he did..Am i right..? So why keep flaming him...even after that..he had agreed to battle someone that has been dancing more then him, in terms of time and effort, i believe this whoever had asked for the call out had been dancing for 13 years according to RJ...that was half my kid age..and i believe this guy is armed with different type of move n skills that can thrash RJ any time..so anyway get back to the topic he Accepted so lives move on..But you guys arent, comments were nasty...He already accepted it..some still call him keyboard warrior..after he accepted at 11pm, so that was it..simple, date time location settled..at approx. 1hr45mins later..some joker call him a keyboard warrior...a keyboard warrior will not accept the challenge right..and you claimed he disrespected the whole community..what community..? okay first thing is , his profile is private so when he accepted the call out , people out there didnt know about it . and as you said its perfectly normal to get angry , everyone did get mad and vented their anger through the comments.
i know that certain comments were inappropriate and i apologize on behalf of my friends. believe me , im sure the guy who said that he wanna slap jay has no intention to do so . i can vouch for that because i know what kind of person he is .
and just to clarify , i have seen jay dance . it has nothing to do with his size. trust me i have seen people bigger than him and dancing , so it doesnt really bother me about his weight or whatver .
anyway this matter will close on friday . i am just stating my views but i believe i am responsible in a way for this whole issue . after all , i am the one who replied him . jay and i are good , we have spoken (after all we are acquaintances and he told me you guys are too ) .
i also acknowledge that some of my friends have been disrespectful in their comments and i will speak to them after the call out is done . the last thing we want here is for apologies flying around and having people not being receptive towards it . after all the dance scene is really angry and we will just let the event unfold on friday .
