White Paper = Toilet Paper ?

Good day to all, I'm sorry for not posting for so long due to work and personal commitments. Anyway, recently our dear Singapore Ruling Party, the AWESOME or AWFUL(to some people)PAP has LOST another seat in the parliament due to Mr. Palmer refusing to keep at 1 personal decision. So it lead to him resigning as a member of Parliament, in fact i quite like him. Haha..So due to him resigning, Punggol East had a by-election...yeah..but too bad no extra holiday..But now the scrutiny falls on the PAP. While taking a pop shot at Workers' Party last year on the issue of Mr. Yew Shin Loong of his integrity and how did Workers' Party choose their candidates, aren't this the pot calling the kettle black..? Is PAP losing it..? Maybe..

Then i heard this during the recent by-election, to Mr. Kenneth Jeyaretnam for running the by-election, "Aiya the people ask you not to join, you still join, serve you right for losing the money!" these sentences saddens me. If we said KJ shouldn't be part of the government just because he don't listen to the PEOPLE..so all those in the parliament shouldn't be there at all..are they REALLY LISTENING TO THE PEOPLE..? Lets take a good look at White Paper... First of all...working towards 6.9 million...with current human count(excluding tourists) is standing at 5.3 million..and according to Singapore Tourism Board we have 13.2 million tourists in 2011 (unable to find 2012) that is on average 1.1 million tourists every month..if you add on to that figure of 5.3 million we will have a grand total of 6.4 million on a total land area of 714.3 km², which measures 49 kilometres from East to West and 25 kilometres from North to South with 19 km of coastline. So to work towards 6.9 million, we will have to give birth to more kids or to import more "FT". but first lets take a look at 2011 General Elections, all the key issue brought up by the citizens of Singapore:

 - Immigration. Foreigners now make up 36 percent of Singapore's population of 5.1 million, up from around 20 percent of 4 million people a decade earlier, which is becoming an irritant to many citizens. They have complained about competition for jobs and housing, the dilution of Singapore's national identity, as well as increasingly crowded roads, buses and trains. For the many foreigners who work in Singapore, and firms that use the city-state as their regional base, the key issue is whether the government will continue the open immigration policies that makes it easy for foreigners to work in Singapore if there is a sharp drop in support for the PAP.

 - Inflation and inequality. Relatively high inflation and income inequality could also affect support for the PAP. Despite stellar economic growth in one of Asia's wealthiest nations, many poorer Singaporeans feel they have fallen through the cracks as government policy is focused on expansion and attracting foreign investment. GDP grew 14.5 percent last year, but government data shows the city-state's median household income rose a much smaller 3.1 percent, or 0.3 percent after adjusting for inflation, to S5,000 ($4,022) a month last year. Singapore's bottom 10 percent of households with at least one working member had an average monthly income of S$1,400 last year, versus S$23,684 for households in the top 10 percent, according to the Department of Statistics. Prices are also a worry. Singapore's inflation rate is currently running above 5 percent and the central bank recently said consumer price index (CPI) inflation will likely come in at the upper end of a 3-4 percent range this year.

 - Housing. Many young Singaporeans feel they can no longer afford homes, unlike their parents' generation, and they feel that government's immigration policies are partly to blame. Singapore has one of the world's highest rates of home ownership at 87 percent, thanks to a home-building programme to provide cheap housing for its citizens that began in the late 1960s. But the government's Housing and Development Board (HDB) is building fewer flats and charging more for them. The Workers' Party, the strongest of Singapore's small opposition parties, said in its manifesto it would price new government-built HDB apartments at a level such that buyers will take 20 years to pay off their mortgage instead of 30.

Above are some issue brought up during the 2011 GE...the first and foremost..immigration...the people has been telling the government LOOK WE ARE OVER CROWDED...if at 5.1 million we already cannot take it..will we be able to take it by 2030 with 6.9 million? Are the MPs who draw $15 000 monthly pay walking the ground and listening to the people..? If you guys say well people are leaving together happily now well take a look at the The New Paper dated 14th Feb 2013. The headline, 3 hurt while queuing to buy NEWSPAPER. Just by buying a newspaper, the guy end up in the hospital, well if you said it is an isolated incident, then have you guys tried to board a bus or train during rush hour..? The amount of shoving, people do JUST to get onto the bus or the train? And for those who are gentle creature, they tend to be out shove by the bigger fiercer, aunties or uncles. If at 5.4 million we have to shove..at 6.9 million we have to whack..? Gone are the days where people give way to older folks, kids and people with needs...now do we really want 6.9 million..?

Have you guys realized that the society is become lesser and lesser gracious towards each other...part of it is due to being overcrowded...But are you guys listening...? Or we are simply NOISES to you..? Your father our Dear Mr. Lee Kuan Yew had mention with our land space...at best we can only accommodate 5.5 million at max. But you aren't listening to your father..by the way get well soon. Over crowding has cause serious issue like slight social unrest. Everyday seems like a competition. Competition for space on train or bus, competition to find a place to seat in food centre, even now...competition to get a roof over our head..Well i do agree a little competition is good...but now we are having TOO MUCH COMPETITION..and do you know that..?

Can you guys solve the most immediate problems before trying to squeeze more people into Singapore. Many folks are trying hard to make ends meet..with the REAL peanuts we earn monthly..most of the time we just happened to have just enough for everything. Do you guys realize it..? I doubt all the policies made so far..doesn't exactly benefit Singaporeans especially the poor..Baby bonus is a classic example of not benefitting the poor...you need to put in 6k then the govt will match dollar to dollar you put in...but what if the couple got no money..? They can afford like maybe 1k..the government put in...1k...so is that a promise of 6k by the government..? NO...These are the people we need to take care and look after and pay more attention..

Here something for everyone to think about..Singaporeans are not having more kids due to the ever raising cost, so where to the "replacement" and the additional figures come from...? Import loh...WAIT...what is the first issue mention during the 2011 General Elections...? Hmm...I wonder wonder wonder....
